The Catfish Welcome Cole Yearsley

Cole Yearsley

Cole Yearsley from Yorkville, Illinois has made quite an impression in his two seasons at Southeast Community College in Burlington, Iowa. So much so that local native and current SIU Saluki head coach Lance Rhodes has signed this young man to his team starting in the fall of 2023.

The Saluki to be still has some unfinished business though. His Blackhawks just won the Region 11 title and will be taking on the Region 13 title winner with a trip to the NJCAA Division II World Series on the line. Cole has been a big reason this program has had an incredible two year run.

2021/2022 – Cole’s freshman year he played in 61 games as his team put up a 42-21 record. The left handed hitting outfielder hit .374 with a team high .485 OB%. He had 79 hits, scored 66 runs, and knocked in 54 runs. He also hit for some power with 13 doubles, five triples and seven home runs. He swiped nine bags only getting caught once. Yearsley drew 34 walks and was hit by a pitch 17 times to lead the team in that category. His glove work was almost flawless, committing only two errors in almost 100 chances.

2022/2023 – Yearsley’s sophomore season, he picked up where he left off. He is top three in almost every offensive category. Through 59 games, 55 of which he has started, Cole is hitting .385 which is second on the team. His on base % is an incredible .542 which leads the team. He has 69 hits(2nd on team), 75 runs(leads the team) and has 59 rbi’s(3rd on team). He has drawn 45 walks which leads the team. The power numbers are still good as he has 19 doubles, two triples and six home runs. He has swiped 16 bags only getting caught once. In the field he has 3 errors in 131 total chances.

We wish Cole and his teammates the best as they try and bring home the NJCAA DII World Series Championship. Once you’ve hoisted that trophy, head on over to Cape Girardeau, Mo. and lets go after another! Looking forward to seeing this guy in a Catfish uniform soon.
