REX Wins Saturday’s Suspended Game

Cape Girardeau, MO July 21 – It took five days, but the Terre Haute REX chalked up a 13-9 win against the Cape Catfish Thursday afternoon, completing a game that was suspended late Saturday night in the top of the 12th inning.

The suspended game resumed with REX runners on second and third, no one out and REX leading 11-9. Both those runners scored on an RBI single followed by a sacrifice fly giving Terre Haute its 13-run total.

The Catfish failed to score in the bottom of the 12th.

Winning pitcher for the REX Baseball Club was Mason White. a junior at Indiana University Southeast in Evansville. White pitched three innings, allowed two Catfish hits and recorded three strikeouts to earn the win, improving his record to 1-2. Chad Donze, a freshman at Lindenwood University in St. Louis, was tagged for the loss, allowing three hits and three earned runs while walking one and striking out four REX players in his two innings of work. His record fell to 0-3.

Time of the game was four hours and 16 minutes.
