Catfish welcome back Breven Yarbro!
Chaffee native Breven Yarbro is back with the Catfish after recovering from injuries in 2022 which kept him sidelined. If you are from the Southeast Missouri area, you know his name and you know what a successful high school career he had at Chaffee HS. He had an 18-1 combined record his junior and senior years. 208 strikeouts in 109.2 innings, almost 2 k’s per inning. Opponents only batted .123 off of him during his last 2 seasons.
He signed originally to play up the road at JeffCo but transferred quickly to powerhouse Crowder CC in Neosho, Mo. He had a very nice freshman season with Crowder appearing in 14 games out of the bullpen. Had a 2-0 record with 5 saves in 17 ip. He struck out 31 with only 9 walks for an era of 4.35.
In 2022 he transferred to UNC Charlotte, another D1 powerhouse program. He didn’t lay in 2022 as he recovered from an injury and saw limited action in 2023 as well. The big, strong 6’3′ 220lb Yarbro is looking forward to getting some innings in for the Catfish this summer. Let’s hope this season ends for the catfish like the last time he was here in 2021!
