Catfish Announce 2023 Schedule
Cape Girardeau, Mo. – December 13 – The Cape Catfish released their 2023 game schedule today, which features 58 games (29 home and 29 away), with all home games played at beautiful, historic Capaha Field. https://www.prospectleague.com/sports/bsb/2022-23/schedule?teamId=urpjk4tc5ow4vb3h
The team also announced all games this season will start at 7:05 pm, with the gates opening at 6:05 pm. There will be a couple of afternoon matinees this summer which is something new. Those will be 2:05pm starts and details will be available as the season gets closer. The 2023 Prospect League season starts on Wednesday, May 31st, with the Catfish opening on the road at O’Fallon, Mo. against the Hoots their division rivals. The Catfish then travel to one of the new teams in the league, the Jackson Tennessee Rockabillys on June 2nd before coming home to Capaha Field for their Home Opener on Saturday, June 3rd to face those same Rockabillys. Opening night will be a great time as always so make plans to attend. The schedule then has 28 more home games with many new promotions this year. The first half concludes on Saturday, July 1st. There will be a first-half champion determined from each of the four divisions. A second-half champion will be determined at the regular season final games on August 5th. The post-season playoffs begin, first with each divisional champion, then an Eastern & Western Conference champion, then a best-of-three Prospect League Championship series.
The Catfish were the 12th team to join the prestigious wood bat Prospect League in 2019. Since then 6 more teams have joined including the two newest teams that will be playing in the Western Conference and in the Catfish Prairie Land Division. “The Jackson Rockabillys and the soon-to-be-named team in Marion, Illinois are the newest additions to the Prospect League making their inaugural debut in 2023,” said Catfish President Glenn Campbell. “These two teams are close by and will become our biggest rivals just because of how many times a year we see each other. We wish both franchises well and look forward to playing them this season.”
