Cape Catfish to take on Full Count Rhythm in 2024 Home Opener May 30

Cape Girardeau, Missouri—The Cape Catfish will host the Hendersonville (Tennessee) Full Count Rhythm at Capaha Field for the first home game of the season on May 30 at 6:35 pm. This is the fifth season for the wood-bat collegiate summer baseball team out of Cape Girardeau.

This year’s home opener promises the same high-energy atmosphere and family-friendly entertainment fans have come to expect from the hometown team. The 2024 team is led by new head coach Phil Butler, who comes to the Catfish as a seasoned player and manager with multiple championships under his belt.

“We’re thrilled to kick off another exciting season and welcome back our passionate fans,” said Glenn Campbell, president of the Cape Catfish. “The first home game is always a special event, and this year will be no exception. We are expecting a sell-out crowd.”

Opening Day Highlights:

  • The first 500 fans through the gate with a paid admission will receive a Cape Catfish T-shirt courtesy of Mercy Southeast.
  • Kenny’s Flippin’ Burgers, Wat’s Knots Pretzels, Sugar Chic Creamery, Hadley’s Candy Shoppe and Mario’s Margaritas will be at the park serving food and treats throughout the night.
  • MoBat Company of Bernie, Missouri, a wood bat supplier for Old Hickory (which makes bats for Major League Baseball players including Mike Trout and Nolan Arenado) will be set up to showcase their product.
