Cape Catfish and the Prospect League announce the 2025 Season
CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO & MAHOMET, Ill. – Feb 22nd, 2025 – The Cape Catfish and the Prospect League proudly released its schedule for the 2025 season recently. The Catfish will be playing in their 6th season and the Prospect League will embark on their 62nd year of baseball. The league will once again feature 18 teams will feature 18 teams as the new Quincy Baseball Club returns for 2025. They replace the Full Count Rythmn who went back to the OVL after one season in the Prospect League.
Opening Day 2025 is slated for Tuesday, May 27, 2025, with all 18 teams in action. The Cape Catfish will be on the road as the always are for opening day as they travel to O’Fallon to take on the Hoots. The Hoots and the Catfish are the only 2 Missouri teams and they will once again battle it out for the “Show Me State” Belt won by the Catfish in 2024. The Catfish will play the Hoots a total of nine times this season. The Catfish will play a total of 56 games again this season 28 at Capaha Field and 28 games away.
OPENING NIGHT for the Catfish will be Thursday May 29th when they take on their arch rival the Thrillville Thrillbillies. Expect some fun give aways again this season as well as some different theme night jerseys and new partnerships as well as other announcements in the coming weeks.
The 2025 prospect League season will again be split into a first and second half with the first half concluding play on June 27th and the second half beginning on June 28th. The 2025 regular season will conclude on July 31st.
The 2025 Prospect League Champion will be crowned following the regular season with the same playoff format used over the past four seasons. The playoffs will begin with four winner-take-all division championships followed by two winner-take-all conference championships and will conclude with a best-of-three league championship series. The playoffs are slated to begin on Friday, August 1st and conclude on Friday, August 8th.
The 2025 season also includes the return of the Prospect League All-Star Game with the 2025 All-Star Fest hosted in Springfield, Ill. at Robin Roberts Stadium on July 8th.
